Outcomes
A sophisticated 30-storey, 60,000 sqm retail and office tower in the heart of Sydney’s CBD – comprising Shell House, 285 George St and Wynyard Place with podium access to Wynyard Station.
In addition to installing the complete facade glazing to the building, our task was to create an awning structure for the level 27 terrace of Brookfield Place – activating 630 sqm of prized outdoor space that was largely overshadowed by the commercial office tower to the north.
The new awning allowed the space to be used comfortably all year round, while complementing the timeless elegance of the building’s architecture.
Ease of operation
Glass skylights and horizontal louvres allow sunlight through various parts of the roof, while walls feature open bays, louvres and sliding glass doors that require minimal maintenance.
Aluminium cassette system
Roof cladding consists of a PVDF-painted aluminium cassette system with stainless steel perimeter gutters and downpipes to optimise drainage.
Galvanised frame
The new awning is supported by a galvanised and painted steel portal frame, anchored to the level 27 slab for maximum stability.
